The author describes Wes Moore life different because he made different decisions when it comes to life correlating to me, I have made a decision that I believe could have altered my life path. A decision that I made that could have altered my life path was making the decision to move to America. This was a joint effort from my mother and I. My mother having a six-figure job in Colombia was the hardest to leave since it is really rare for a person to reach a six-figure income in COL. I also had to make the decision to leave all of my friends and all of my family behind for this new life. This would have altered my life because I wouldn’t know the things I know today. Since I run a digital shoe company In my opinion if me and my mother didn’t make the decision to move here I would have never even knew that running a business at the age of 18 was even possible. In Colombia there are only a few avenues that kids go through. Either education, streets, or inheritance. In my case streets was never an option for me and since my parents didn’t have much to inherit, I had to get it on my own. I started getting involved with tech since I was in COL but once I touched American soil everything changed. I received my first laptop at the age of 13. I started taking them apart and putting them back together. This started to be my only hobby for a couple of years and after a while I realized there was money to be made in this industry. In late middle school and early high school I started to make commission of building my friends and any classmates desktops. This opened my eyes into business and through this year I gained another passion which was designer shoes. Since I made many connections in the tech area, I meet smart people who taught me how to buy and sell shoes wholesale. I was then introduced to shoes bots which would buy certain sought-after shoes instantly seconds after buying. This took my business to a whole different level being able to buy shoes at retail when they were selling for more than double the retail cost in the resell market. With my tech skills and shoe connection I decided to stop selling wholesale and move to the virtual retail side of shoes. I started my own LLC and acquired my Business Debit and launched my site in early 2019. After a couple months of trial and error my site started getting the traffic and the turnovers needed to scale into something bigger. In Conclusion, If my mother and I didn’t make the decision to move to America I would have never acquired the passion for shoes and tech. I would of never knew this was possible and would probably be working at a minimum wage job in COL making profit I make off one sneaker here in the US.
